We are pleased to announce that Tenos has been acknowledged as part of the project team for the Bolton Market Place Shopping Centre development, which last week won ‘Best Large Commercial Building’ at the LABC North West Building Excellence Awards 2017.
Fire engineering strategy for award winning Bolton Market Place Shopping Centre
Tenos developed the fire strategy for a significant extension and refurbishment proposals at this multi-storey shopping complex in Bolton, which incorporated Grade II listed elements in the old ‘Market Hall’ part of the building.
The development works included the introduction of a completely new mall, bar/restaurant and play zone at basement level; and conversion of part of the upper car park levels into a 9-screen independent cinema. The project also involved many unit mergers/realignments in the existing parts of the centre, and Tenos were able to provide flexibility in this regard by producing several options for maintaining the necessary existing smoke control and means of escape provisions.
As part of the fire strategy development, Tenos:
These significant works were undertaken whilst the centre continued to be fully operational. We were also able to provide expert advice on delivering the project and reducing the impact on trading units, whilst retaining the key fire safety provisions essential for the safe operation of the Centre.
